Freshdesk Raised Prices for the First Time in Five Years. Read the AI Lines Carefully

Short answer

Freshdesk's 2026 plans run roughly $19 to $89 per agent for ticketing, its first increase in about five years. Freddy AI is separate: Copilot at about $29 per agent on higher tiers, and AI Agent metered with 500 sessions included and roughly $49 per 100 after.

Key takeaways

  • The ticketing price and the AI price are two different budgets.
  • Copilot is agent-assist and does not reduce how many contacts need a human.
  • AI Agent is metered in sessions, which is not the same unit as resolutions.
  • The open-ended free plan is gone, replaced by a two-agent, six-month programme.

Freshdesk’s 2026 pricing brought its first increase in roughly five years, and the increase is the less interesting half of the story. The AI lines are where the budgeting goes wrong.

The two budgets

Ticketing. Plans run roughly $19 to $89 per agent per month, with Omni tiers priced separately at about $29, $79 and $119.

Freddy AI. Charged separately, in two distinct products that get conflated constantly:

  • Copilot, the agent-assist layer that drafts replies, summarises tickets and adjusts tone. About $29 per agent per month, available on Pro and Enterprise only.
  • AI Agent, the customer-facing bot. First 500 sessions included, then roughly $49 per 100 sessions.

A five-agent team on Pro with Copilot is paying the plan price plus $145 a month before a single customer-facing AI session. Verify all of this on the Freshworks pricing page, because this is exactly the area that changes.

Copilot does not reduce your volume

This is the distinction that matters most and it is the one the naming obscures.

Copilot helps a human answer. Every contact still needs an agent, so it improves minutes per ticket and does not change how many tickets a person touches. Its genuine strengths are compressing new-agent ramp time and summarising at handoff.

AI Agent answers the customer. That is the only one of the two that changes capacity.

If you are buying to reduce headcount pressure, Copilot is not the product, regardless of how it is bundled. We wrote up the difference in detail.

Sessions are not resolutions

AI Agent is metered in sessions. A session is a conversation the bot handled. A resolution is an issue solved.

The gap between those matters because a session bills whether or not anything was resolved. Three questions determine your real cost:

  1. Does inactivity reset a session, turning one customer’s afternoon into several billable units?
  2. Does a follow-up about the same issue start a new session?
  3. Does an abandoned conversation count?

At roughly $0.49 per session, the headline looks competitive against per-resolution rates elsewhere. It is only comparable if a session is roughly one resolution, and that depends entirely on the answers above.

The free plan changed too

Worth restating because it still catches people out. The open-ended free plan was replaced by a Free Program limited to about two agents for six months, and it is not offered across every Freshworks product.

If you chose Freshdesk to start free and grow into a paid tier, that path is closed. We wrote about what small teams should do about it.

What to do at renewal

Price the tier you actually need, not the entry one. Features migrate between tiers and the one you use may have moved.

Separate the Copilot decision from the AI Agent decision. They solve different problems and only one changes capacity.

Model AI Agent at your real volume, past the 500 included sessions, using your worst month rather than your average.

Ask what a session is, precisely, in writing.

Then convert everything to cost per resolved issue so you can compare it against anything else. We published every published rate in the market with seat fees stacked.

The comparison worth running

Fidiora charges $0.59 per genuine resolution with no seat fee and no separate copilot tier, and never bills for abandonment, timeouts or handoffs. It also runs alongside Freshdesk rather than replacing it, so this is not necessarily a migration decision.

Whether that is cheaper depends on your agent count and volume. At a high agent count with modest volume, seat-based pricing can win. At a lean team with high repetitive volume, it generally does not. Run it at your numbers rather than ours.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Freshdesk cost in 2026?
Plans run roughly $19 to $89 per agent per month for ticketing, with Omni tiers priced separately at about $29, $79 and $119. Freddy AI is charged on top. Verify current figures on the Freshworks pricing page before budgeting.
What does Freddy AI cost?
Freddy AI Copilot, the agent-assist layer, is about $29 per agent per month and available on Pro and Enterprise. Freddy AI Agent, the customer-facing bot, includes the first 500 sessions with roughly $49 per 100 sessions after that.
Is a Freddy AI session the same as a resolution?
No. A session is a conversation the bot handled, regardless of whether it resolved anything. A resolution is an issue genuinely solved. Ask specifically whether inactivity resets a session and whether follow-ups start a new one.
Does Freshdesk still have a free plan?
Not the open-ended one. There is a Free Program limited to about two agents for six months, and it is not available across every Freshworks product. Check the current terms directly.
